What a fun weekend we had in Wisconsin. Karen and Kevin did a fantastic job of treating their guests to the full experience. Karen is originally from Ladysmith Wisconsin, but now lives in New York City with Kevin. She really wanted her guests to enjoy the Northwoods of her home state and pulled it off beautifully.
The weekend got underway with the rehearsal dinner which was held at the Big Bear Hide-Away in Boulder Junction. This has to be about the coolest possible place! They really do live up to their claim of rustic luxury. After Karen and Kevin rang the dinner bell, everyone was bound to get their fill from the fantastic pig roast complete with all of the trimmings. The Marvins filled the air with all sorts of different tunes (and some witty comments by Marvin himself). As the night approached, the entire grounds were illuminated with torchlight and the smell of the accompanying bonfires. If you are ever in the area, do yourselves a favor and check out the Big Bear! Plus the owners, Jeff and Donna, are unbelievably great hosts!
The weekend progressed with Karen and Kevin getting ready at The Beacons Resort in separate cabins. Karen was not only assisted by her bridesmaids, but her "bridal brigade". (A band of girls all very near and dear to our lovely bride). She gave each of her girls a large flower ring in varying colors as a thank you gift. The girl's wore them throughout the day (including Karen with her white flower) making it easy to pick out a "bridal brigade" member in the crowd! (Thanks for that Dear:)) Karen looked gorgeous in her Monique Lhuillier gown which matched the feel of the wedding perfectly! Kevin looked awfully dapper himself with a matching Burberry tie.
The wedding was held in a church that fit perfectly into the natural theme. It was a wonderful mix of stone, glass, and logs. Not to mention behind the church were some awesome areas for photos! We were so blessed with the surroundings. After some great pictures, the newly married couple made their way to the reception at the Minocqua Country Club via a pontoon boat. It was a great way to soak in the lake and relax before the party got into full swing. The club served a delicious meal. The guests all received homemade maple syrup as a favor (Karen's dad and grandpa made it all). The cake and cupcakes were made by Karen's mom and was a perfect centerpiece for the reception hall. With the night just getting started, Bill Hermann had everyone dancing and having a great time. Plus, "God's Country" didn't disappoint, and gave everyone a beautiful sunset to take in!
We would like to thank both Karen and Kevin and all of their guests for such a fun weekend. We had a great time and can't wait for you to see all of the images. In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the highlights below, and don't forget the SLIDESHOW!!!
P.S. If you would like to be alerted of when all of the pictures are available to view and order, you can get to Karen and Kevin's online gallery by using this LINK. If you register before the event is released (ie. now), you are eligible for a $5 gift certificate!
