Wow, I am honored to be the feature speaker on Tuesday, January 19th for the Minneapolis Association of Bridal Consultants.  If anyone in the wedding industry is interested in coming, here is a link to the Evite.

I have posted the Title and small outline of the presentation below:

ABCLogocolor_webpageonly.jpg
"Is cause related marketing currently a part of your business, and if not, should it be?"

Jason Thon of Staja Studios will be discussing the background, fundamentals, and direction of cause related marketing, and how it can play a role in your life and business.  Included in his presentation, he will give an example of a current campaign he has been involved with that has resulted in a National Publication and platform at a major industry event.

I hope to see you there!

Wow, what a fun way to start off the first Tanzania Thursday of the new year!  For this edition, I have some exciting news to share.  One of my favorite images from the trip was chosen for the article on the Thirst Relief Benefit Shoot

For those of you who haven't heard of Wedding Style magazine, within the industry it is considered one of the best magazines out there.  Grace Ormonde has staked her name on the visual appearance of this magazine.  If you were to look through it, everything is done very classy and pleasing to the eye.  The first time I came across the magazine, it instantly became a must read because I was so impressed with the layout, the images, and the style that Grace features.  I remember showing Stacey it for the first time and we both said "We want to be in there, how cool would that be".  Mark one off the bucket list I guess :).  In all actuality, I just feel honored to have my name next to any of the other people who went on the trip.

I encourage anyone who hasn't read Grace's magazine to take a look.  I think you would agree that her magazine is top notch!  Without further delay, here is the article.  My image is of the boy getting a piggy back ride on page 104.  We are hoping this is just the first of many future appearances.  Thanks Grace!

Jason, your picture is awesome! The "narrowing down" process seems so long ago now. You have an amazing ability to find and be aware of great shots everywhere (even if you or your equipment are at risk:]). I have a feeling this one picture will open doors to spreads, layouts, articles, ect.!!!!!! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!

So our awesome client, Aly, and mutual friend, Lacie, had a brilliant idea this fall.  Aly had so much fun at her wedding, that they thought it would be fun to play dress up again and do a "trash the dress" session :).  Most of the time we do these, we call it a day after session, but they both went and got a wedding dress, did a little of their own embellishing, and wanted to trash it!  In addition, as a florist, Lacie wanted to make some floral bouquets with a little more attitude then what she usually gets to.  We had everything all lined up to use some fall color, but the weather was not cooperating.  We decided to still give things a go.  Unfortunately, due to the inclimate weather, we ended up spending more time inside than originally planned, but it ended up making for a pretty fashionable backdrop.  Thankfully we brought one of our lights along, as it came in handy!

We ended up having such a good time and shared a lot of laughs during the shoot.  Aly and Lacie both did a fantastic job and ended up braving the cold as dark approached, which allowed us to get some very cool images in a nearby tree grove/field.  Because of the shortened hours and everything else, we weren't able to shoot as long as planned.  However, we have already talked and are looking forward to continuing the session in the spring when it warms back up, giving these lovely ladies a chance to finish the trashing that they started!  If interested in contacting an awesome florist to do your flowers for an upcoming wedding or event, you can find Lacie here.  Without further delay, here are some highlights from the shoot!

We recently had the opportunity to photograph Tonia and Matt's destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico at the Moon Palace Resort.  Our little adventure started off on a Thursday morning when we flew out with the majority of the guests.  For destination events, we like to fly out a day ahead of the scheduled activities just in case there are issues with flights, etc.  Luckily everything ran smooth, and it was nice to meet a lot of the people that were going to be attending the wedding.  As we were preparing for the trip, they were forecasting rain for just about every day we were going to be there; however, we ended up being blessed with unbelievable weather.

Tonia and Matt had a beautiful ceremony on the beach about an hour before sunset, followed by dinner with their closest family and friends.  Despite daylights savings playing a cruel joke and happening on the day of the wedding, we were still able to get some beautiful images with the glorious golden light we love so much.

The following day, we took the newlyweds to a town inland within the Yucatan Peninsula by the name of Valladolid.  Despite a bit of a drive, an encounter with a bus full of happy Italians, and issues with 18 inch curbs, Tonia and Matt made this place sizzle!

We would like to thank them both, and all of their guests for such a fun weekend.  We are always honored and humbled to be asked to shoot someones wedding, but this feeling seems to be heightened slightly when you are asked to travel with the couple and the people closest to them to capture their wedding!  Not to mention, it is always a nice treat for us, as minneapolis wedding photographers, to get out of Minnesota during late fall and enjoy a little sunshine!  We had such a great time, and can't wait for you to see the rest of the images.  In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the highlights below, and don't forget the SLIDESHOW from the weekend!!!

P.S.  If you would like to be alerted of when all of the pictures are available to view and order, you can get to Tonia and Matt's online gallery by using this LINK.  If you register before the event is released (ie. now), you are eligible for a $5 gift certificate!

Lisa and Zach were such a fun couple who obviously love one another very much.  We had not had the opportunity to meet them before the wedding, as they live in Washington D.C., but chose to have a Minneapolis Wedding.  Zach is originally from the area and they chose to have the wedding here.  As soon as we met, we could tell that they would be an easy couple to work with.  Zach is very gregarious and fun-loving, and Lisa provides the balance to the relationship and is able to keep him grounded.  One thing that is certain is that they make a great couple.

They had their first meeting at their reception site, the Nicollet Island Pavilion.  After some pictures, we moved over to St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral for the ceremony.  The ceremony was filled with lots of tradition and was very meaningful, as Zach was the latest in multiple generations of his family to be married there.  Afterwards, Lisa and Zach departed in a classic Ford (I think a 29 Model A, but don't hold me to that) to head back to the Saint Anthony Main area for some more pictures.

The night finished with some great food and fun.  Mintáhoe provided the catering, and all of Lisa and Zach's family and friends provided the fun!  Lisa and Zach, we wish you both the very best on your new life together and thank you for having us be a part of your special day!  In closing, enjoy some of the highlights from the day.

P.S.  If you would like to be alerted of when all of the pictures are available to view and order, you can get to Lisa and Zach's online gallery by using this LINK. If you register before the event is released (ie. now), you are eligible for a $5 gift certificate!
